We are hiring

Senior Associate (all genders)

Munich

Full time

ABOUT

Apirion was founded by three experienced advisors as a strategy and M&A boutique built entirely around insurance, with the ambition to rethink advisory from the ground up.

Our work begins where decisions start to carry real weight: when insurers make strategic choices that set their direction, investors determine what comes next, or business owners consider the future of what they have built. We combine deep insurance expertise with an advisory model designed deliberately from scratch. Our teams are lean and experienced. Partners stay in the work. AI is built into how we operate.

We can start with the work, not the explaining. Because the future of advisory belongs not to generalists, but to those who truly understand an industry and the people who shape it.

THE ROLE

This role is for someone who has learned the craft and now wants more of the actual work, not more of the model around it. You want to be closer to the client, take responsibility earlier and work with partners who remain involved throughout the project. Your energy should go into the outcome, not internal distractions.

As a Senior Associate, you own substantial parts of our strategy and M&A projects. You structure the analysis, guide interns and associates through their work and present your findings directly to the client. What matters is not only what you find, but how you interpret it and the position you develop from it.

At the same time, you help evolve how we work. Together with us, you drive the practical use of AI in project work, identify relevant use cases, put them into practice with the team and develop further what proves its value.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Own substantial parts of our strategy and M&A projects, working directly with our partners and clients.
  • In strategy projects, you structure complex questions, develop hypotheses and combine rigorous analysis with interviews and client workshops. You turn the findings into clear options and a well-founded point of view. You help leaders build alignment around the chosen direction by navigating the decision-making processes and dynamics of large organisations, translating strategic choices into clear priorities and communicating them in a way that people understand and support.
  • In M&A projects, you work across the full cycle: from M&A and PMI strategies and buy-side advisory for insurers to advising business owners on the sale of their insurance brokerage or MGA. You analyse companies, markets and value drivers, develop financial factbooks and business cases, build or challenge EBITDA bridges and contribute to valuation discussions. You prepare transaction materials including NDAs, teasers and CIMs, and support due diligence, negotiations and completion.
  • On sell-side projects, you work particularly closely with business owners and their families. A transaction is about more than price. It is also about a life’s work, succession, the owner’s future role and the people behind the business. You support these decisions with the personal attention and discretion they require.
  • Guide interns and associates through their work, acting as a role model and trusted point of contact.
  • Help drive the use of AI in our project work and develop further what proves valuable in practice.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Several years of experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, M&A advisory or a similarly analytical role.
  • Experience in insurance is welcome. What matters is a genuine ambition to understand the industry and build real expertise within it.
  • Previous M&A experience is an advantage, but not a requirement. More important are genuine interest, intellectual rigour and the ability to build trust in demanding situations. You will learn the transaction craft directly through live project work.
  • Strong analytical skills and sound judgement. You think carefully, develop your own point of view and are prepared to stand behind it.
  • The ability to own a substantial part of a project from the first question to a robust result, and to represent your work confidently in front of the client.A genuine interest in developing more junior colleagues. You provide direction and want to improve not only your own work, but the work of the team around you.
  • A deliberate choice to seek the closeness and responsibility of a boutique. To you, culture is not a programme. It is created through the way people work together every day. You want to take responsibility for it and help shape how Apirion works, grows and feels.
  • A university degree with strong results in economics, business, finance, mathematics, actuarial science, law or a related discipline.
  • Fluency in both German and English.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Direct work with our partners and clients from day one.
  • Real ownership of your work, from the first framing of the question to the outcome delivered to the client.
  • The opportunity to understand one demanding industry in real depth, rather than many only at the surface.
  • A high standard, candid feedback and partners who take the time to develop both your work and your judgement.
  • No finished system to fit into. You help shape how we advise, how we use AI and how Apirion is built.

HOW TO APPLY

Send us your CV and a few personal lines on what connects you to insurance and why you would like to help build Apirion. A formal cover letter is not required.
