We are hiring
Engagement Manager (all genders)
ABOUT
Apirion was founded by three experienced advisors as a strategy and M&A boutique built entirely around insurance, with the ambition to rethink advisory from the ground up.
Our work begins where decisions start to carry real weight: when insurers make strategic choices that set their direction, investors determine what comes next, or business owners consider the future of what they have built. We combine deep insurance expertise with an advisory model designed deliberately from scratch. Our teams are lean and experienced. Partners stay in the work. AI is built into how we operate.
We can start with the work, not the explaining. Because the future of advisory belongs not to generalists, but to those who truly understand an industry and the people who shape it.
THE ROLE
As an Engagement Manager, you are responsible for bringing an entire strategy or M&A project together. You keep the question, the team, the client and the outcome on course while remaining close to the substance of the work.
Project leadership does not create another layer at Apirion. Partners, Engagement Managers and the wider team work directly with one another and with the client. Your role is not to manage access, but to create clarity, make ownership clear and ensure that the shared result meets our standard.
At Apirion, responsibility grows with seniority. Distance from the work, the team and the client does not.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Lead strategy and M&A projects from the first conversation to the final outcome. You are responsible for the intellectual structure, the team, the collaboration with the client, and the quality, timing and economics of the project.
- In strategy projects, you sharpen the central question together with decision-makers, set the analytical direction and guide the client through the discussions that matter. You turn analysis into clear choices and help build alignment around the chosen direction, ensuring that its implications and priorities are understood across the organisation.
- In M&A projects, you lead the work across the full cycle. Together with our partners and the team, you shape the transaction logic, oversee the central analyses and keep due diligence, the parties involved, negotiations and next steps connected.
- As the central point of contact on the project, you build a trusted relationship with the client. At the same time, you ensure that partners and the wider team can work directly with one another and with the client. You navigate demanding situations, bring different interests together and state clearly what you believe is right.
- Lead the project team, set priorities and develop each person within it. You create an environment in which high standards, trust, appreciation and enjoyment of the work belong together.
- Recognise questions that may lead to further work and develop new project opportunities and proposals together with our partners and the team. You understand where Apirion can create further value and bring your perspective to proposals and client conversations.
- Advance the practical use of AI with the team. You ensure that new applications are not merely tested, but embedded where they genuinely improve the way the team works.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Several years of experience in strategy consulting, investment banking or M&A advisory, including responsibility for substantial parts of projects or complete project delivery.
- An established focus on the insurance industry. You have already worked extensively with insurers, insurance brokerages, MGAs or other businesses across the insurance value chain.
- Strong experience in at least one of our two areas, strategy or M&A, and the ambition to deepen your capabilities in the other together with us.
- The ability to lead a project both intellectually and operationally without stepping away from the substance. You review critical analyses yourself and develop your own point of view on the questions that determine the outcome.
- Clear communication and the ability to build trust with board members, senior executives, investors and business owners as they navigate demanding decisions.
- An understanding of the decision-making processes and dynamics of large organisations, as well as the personal attention and discretion required in an owner-led transaction.
- A genuine commitment to developing people and taking responsibility for quality, collaboration and culture within the team.
- A deliberate choice to seek the closeness and freedom of a boutique. You want not only to lead projects, but also to shape how Apirion advises, grows and evolves.
- A university degree in a discipline relevant to our work.
- Fluency in both German and English.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Responsibility for a complete project while working directly with our partners, the team and the client throughout.
- Direct access to board members, investors, business owners and their families.
- The opportunity to deepen your profile in insurance and connect both sides of Apirion: strategy and M&A.A high standard, short decision paths and real influence over the team, our culture and how we work.
- The opportunity to progress from leading individual projects to taking responsibility for multiple projects and your own client relationships.
HOW TO APPLY
Send us your CV and a few personal lines on your connection to the insurance industry, the project and client responsibility you have carried, and why you would like to help build Apirion. A formal cover letter is not required.
